#VictoriaAveyardinPH: Victoria Aveyard Manila Book Tour 2016 | Signed Adventures

HEY PEOPLE!

It has been such a long time since I posted anything here on my blog and a bookish event at that. Anyway, Red Queen was one of those books from last year that I really wanted to get my hands on, because of the hype that it has gotten all over the publishing world. When National Bookstore announced that they will be bringing the woman behind the book, Miss Victoria Aveyard, in the country I knew I had to immediately jump on the bandwagon and I am certainly happy with this decision (check out my reviews of Red Queen and Glass Sword in my Youtube channel).

Now, I am really excited to tell you guys what went down in #VictoriaAveyardinPH!

Pre-Signing Sitch:

It has been months since the last event I attended for National Bookstore and I miss hanging out with my fellow bibliophiles! I am not one of those lucky few that have bookish friends IRL so being able to fanboy over books with other enthusiasts is a treat that I always like to bask in during book signings.

I just love taking candid shots!

Q&A:

Victoria Aveyard answered all of our burning questions with so much finesse and charm. I really love that part when she talked about how her dad reacted to that famous Harry Potter betrayal.

I also found her nuggets of writing wisdom fascinating. Since she came from a film background it was nice to know more about the correlation of screenwriting with novel writing. I learned a lot from her and I wish I will be able to apply all of her tips in my own work-in-progress.

Book Signing:

It is now time for Kevin’s Anecdotes!
*cue in sarcastic yays!*

For today’s signature Kevin awkward moment, I give you the struggles I always face when meeting authors… the filler interview in between the signing of books. Thank goodness I didn’t bring up my go-to topic which is the weather. This time I went in the general route and asked her…

“How are you?”

She replied that she was fine and smiled. You think I stopped there, but no. I continued and asked her about the crowd in her Cebu event and she said that she was totally surprised by the turn out and she was so very thankful for every single one of her fans that were there.

Then when it was time to take the picture, I “modestly” told her that I made the design of my iPhone case. I didn’t know what came over me, but I really wanted to facepalm myself because the way I delivered it dripped with so much enthusiasm you would’ve thought I was on drugs.

Victoria being the epitome of grace, told me that it looked cool.

The awesome Lyra (Defiantly Deviant) gushing over Victoria Aveyard!

Wait… There’s more…

When she was signing some bookmarks and we were all prepping for our group shot, I constantly bombarded her with statements about the covers of her books (and I was internally screaming at myself to “please stop talking”) because c’mon her books are so gorgeous and shiny. Victoria replied while still signing our bookmarks, which was really professional of her.

Then we all had a group photo and it was epic!

Post-Signing Sitch:

After our signing, Salve (Cuckoo For Books), JM (Book Freak Revelations) and I met a sweet and nice bookstagrammer named Luianna (@luiannaisabel). She was such a cutie and she was so kind!

Then I met up with some of my booksigning buddies Jerzon, Gavin, Czarina, and other book dragons at Powerbooks. They were so cool and it was so much fun catching up with them. During that encounter, I also met Erika (@librostagram) for a brief moment!

These events just widens my circle of bookish friends and acquaintances, which is why I love attending them.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH MISS VICTORIA AVEYARD FOR GRACING US WITH YOUR PRESENCE AND SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCES WITH WRITING AND PUBLISHING…

THANK YOU VERY MUCH HARPER COLLINS INTERNATIONAL FOR GIVING US THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET HER IN PERSON…

AND OF COURSE WE ARE ALL ETERNALLY GRATEFUL TO NATIONAL BOOKSTORE FOR ALWAYS HOSTING, ORGANIZING, AND INVITING AUTHORS IN THE PHILIPPINES. YOU GUYS ARE DOING A WONDERFUL SERVICE TO ALL OF US FILIPINO BOOK LOVERS. MORE POWER TO YOU!

Were you able to attend Victoria Aveyard’s event? What was your experience like?

  1. Hey Aizel! Thank you very much for taking the time to comment on here! Anyway in regards to your question, NBS is the one in-charge of choosing and selecting bloggers to invite and I personally don't know how they do it. Hope that answers the question. 🙂
